Thanks for putting yourself out there - takes some courage. As you say, not a great recording but your voice comes thru. I play acoustic, so I'm not attempting anything like what you're doing, more like basic versions of FOTD, Miss. Half Step, BEW, Candyman, Tenn. Jed, UJB, Ramble On Rose, although I get little licks in here and there. Some tunes I'll fingerpick, like Louis Collins, Althea or Peggy-O. Keep playin and have fun!

BTW - do you have any better source for tabs other than rukind and jdarks' site? Sometimes the stuff that's out there doesn't sound right.... of course your own ear is better than anyone else's. !!

FOTD is definitely lots of fun to play. I haven't played it in awhile though, as recently I've been more into just straight jamming, and there's not a lot of new twists I can put on that song, unless I play it like the drawn out slower versions with the long instrumental breaks.

As with the Big Boss Man I posted, I don't even look at tabs. I like to put my own spin on the music, while still making it fit the mood of that particular song. That's an easy one since you can just stay in the key of E for the whole song, but the way I approach the guitar is just different since I picked it up again recently. In the past I would always look up tabs and just re-hash the songs note for note basically. I find it much more rewarding doing what I have been lately.

No pressure of course, but it would be nice to hear one of those acoustic numbers :-) I wish I had an acoustic guitar too. Since I don't look at tabs much anymore, I'm not sure which sites are the best. What I have always done though is just google “Big Boss Man Grateful Dead tabs” or whatever song you want, and then I check out the tabs on the first few sites and compare them. If I can't tell which one looks most accurate, I'll try playing each one and go with whichever one sounds the best or is easiest.
